Oh so slow

Twas' the day before Thanksgiving and all through the office every worker was yawning...
Yup, slow day here at the office. Jen didn't come in... again... darn her. So Blaze and I are manning the phones, which is loads of fun (not).

Anyhow, I left my wallet at home today, which means I'm very stupid, so I'll probably have to run back and get that on my lunch break since I leave straight from work to go pick up Brittany from PLC, and its bad mojo to drive without a licenses and to buy dinner without any money.

Well, the motherboard I was waiting on from Dell just got here... so I'm gonna go install that.

Bugger says I

As some of you may know my car had a terrible habit of smelling like someone had spilled gas all over it, well, it started to get far worse last week (that and the breaks sounded like they were going out), so I had my car looked at finally... and well... umm... the fuel injectors had start leaking... whoops... So yes, I'm very thankful my car didn't blow up while I was in it... though I'm somewhat less thankful that to get everything fixed (the little things as well as the big) the price tag will run around $1500... bugger.

Anyhow, work is still work, though I got sent out to do an on-site last Thursday, which is way ahead of the plan. And I did two on-sites yesterday, and one today (real basic stuff of course). But next week I'm supposed to go out with Thor and do on-sites, hopefully that will go well.

I'm still sick... which is a drag. Word.

24 hours ain't enough...

Ever have those days where it seems that 24 hours isn't enough time to get everything done? Yeah, had a few of those lately.

Get this, for a week in December I'll be working like 18 hours a day (unless I don't pass the background test)... If that's not crazy I don't know what is! All thanks to the DOI, which I would like to give a special "shoutout" to :P Oh well, they're giving me money... which I will have to spend on coffee to stay awake during my 13 hour shifts. Basically the run down is this, I work from 5 PM - 6 AM for the DOI (under contract from SI) and then I work 5 hours a day at SI to boot... Thor said we could probably work something out so I could cut back my SI hours back a little bit more, so I might actually survive that week.

Well, I'm going to bed now... I have to get in my 4 hours of coughing before I can fall asleep. G'night.

The last week in 30 seconds

I am not dead, but I'm still sick. Work is going okay, life is stressful though. I have very little free time these days, its a drag... I need sleep... I need to get better, I also need heat in my car.

G'bye.

The pain, the agony... the coffeelessness

So I'm at the Mill, and drinking coffee wouldn't be too smart with my cold so I'm drinking tea. Yes, me drinking tea, I know, I know... its wrong. Anyhow, Mark was working and gave me a free cup of Gypsy Cold Care tea, which he swears by for helping with sore throats and headaches, so here's to hoping it works *grin*

I heard back from Kimberly at SI, and I start at 10 AM tomorrow, so that's pretty cool. I also found out that I get reimbursed $0.37 per mile I drive while doing on-site visits, that pretty much owns! My first task tomorrow will be filling out some paperwork and getting my time sheet setup, then Blaze is going to show me the ropes of the in-shop work. Here's to hoping tomorrow goes well!

Can I get a woot, woot?

I am now officially an employee of SI (Schrock Innovations). I am also now sick, which sucks. I start at SI in two days, so I have that time to get better... Fun...

Here's to hoping...

I got a call from SI yesterday asking me to come in for an interview, and its looking like I have a pretty good chance of getting a job there! Which would rock the house. I'd be doing the same stuff I'm doing now, except on a larger scale. So hopefully that will all pan out, if not, oh well, I shall be forced to bitterly cry myself to sleep at night :P

So I got back on WhatPulse the other day, really its just for kicks and to see how much I really do type on this stupid computer. If you don't know what WhatPulse is check it out.

Luke and I took a trip to visit the Johnson's last Saturday, that was a blast. We actually got sleep this time! Which is surprising considering there were four kids running/crawling around the house the whole time since David and Jess were spending a few days there. Anyhow, I'll try and post some pictures from the trip later.

Monkeys...

I was sitting at the mill Wednesday evening when I picked up my phone to check the time and I found it was off, slightly puzzled, I hit the power button to turn my phone back on, it went through the motions of starting up then it shut down again. Now greatly confused, I concluded that I must not have charged the phone the night before, so I went on my way.

Fast forward a couple hours, and I plug my phone in to charge. I checked my voicemail really quick, then I went to get something to eat. Upon returning I found my phone off again, the little bugger. To make a long story a whole lot shorter, my phone is a piece of crap and won't stay on longer for ten seconds unless its charging.

After 20 minutes of messing around with the confounded thing, I figured out that if I turn my bluetooth on it jams itself into broadcast mode, but my phone doesn't turn off and seems to function "normally". So that's my current "hotfix" until I can take it to the Alltel store to be replaced.

In other news, there's a new webzine for photographers (and wannbes) coming out at the end of the month, and the theme for their first issue is of course "Autumn", so if any of you feel inclined to take a picture of something Autumnish and want to submit it, just send it to fotographersmag@gmail.com. Yes, Nikki, more people spelling photo wrong :-P The site itself isn't up yet, but if you submit something you'll get an email when it goes live.

Speaking of webzines, Snaps Magazine is accepting submissions for their 8th issue. The theme is action/reaction.

And sadly, I am so spaced out, I just listened to the same song 15 times over... without realizing it was the same song. I'm going to bed.

Google + OpenOffice

Both Sun and Google came out and stated that there wouldn't be a "Google Office", or Google hosted version of OpenOffice. Which is a major bummer, think about it, Google offers a set of webbased office apps based off OpenOffice and they tie it in with Gmail, so users can save their files and work on them from any computer. Seems like a good idea to me.

For those of you who don't know what OpenOffice is, its the open-source software answer to Microsoft Office. Check it out.
