Blogging... everybody's doing it...

Blogging has been "the thing to do" for quite some time now, and "everyone is doing it", but Friday afternoon that fact was reaffirmed for me.

I was sitting there working on some old guys computer and randomly he's like, "how would I go about starting a blog?". I explained the concept behind Blogger and he seemed to be rather taken with the idea, he then went on to inform me that his sudden interest in the blogosphere stemmed from the fact he'd gotten an email from an old chum some weeks ago with a link to his blog, where he (his chum) detailed his exploits and adventures in the world of genealogy. I found this simply fascinating. I had to know more.

The afore mentioned old guy couldn't find the email with the link to his friends blog, but he promised he would pass it along to me if he dug it up. And I, in turn, promised to pass it along to the world through my vast circle of influence.

I tip my hat to all those old schoolers who are actually giving technology a try, kudos to them! I may be somewhat biased, because it seems those very people are the ones that keep me employed.

[ this post also is intended to serve as a gauge for how often people actually check my seldom updated blog ... first one to comment gets a cookie! ]

Do you Vongo?

So I signed up for a free 14 day trial of Vongo. Vongo is like the iTunes for movies... only unlike iTunes it has no selection what so ever.

The download and install were easy enough, no complaints there. However, finding a movie worth downloading proved to be much harder... After searching for 30 minutes or so, I found a movie that actually sounded interesting and that I'd heard of before, downloaded it and tried to watch it.

To make a long story short I couldn't watch the movie I just downloaded, due to some problem with Windows Media Player, what the heck, I'll upgrade to the latest version of WMP (which Vongo uses for their DRM as well as playback)... tried it again, still no dice, new error message though (the first one was prettier looking). Back to the drawing board.

After messing with it for a good hour or so, I fired off a support request to their tech dept. two days later and I still haven't gotten a reply. No points for tech support.

Over all, the concept is cool... the delivery is sub-par and the selection is woefully lacking.

Out of no where, I return

Seems my last post was on 3/14/06... Whoops.

I freely admit that due to the lack of updates, the few people who did read this site are now long since over their routine of checking for updates and as such this post won't be read by very many people. No matter.

So in the past 3 months, lots of things have happened. I'll refrain from blogging about them, not because they're so boring but because I can't remember them all and I don't feel like typing everything out that's happened in the past three months.

A few highlights would be, some jerk crashed into my new car.

I took a four day roadtrip with some friends.

I finally got a MySpace.

I deleted my photoblog (again).

YotN got a new template.

My stock in eBay went down.

Lindsey H. hooked me up with some serious coffee tokens.

My sister got married.

For the record, the above listed events didn't happen in that order.

Anyhow, I broke down today and bought myself a satellite radio/MP3 player. See what happens when I have to work in shop and get bored... I spend money... Yeah, I figure the monthly cost for satellite radio breaks down to me buying a new CD each month, not bad at all, and since I need something to listen to while I drive all over kingdom come it seems like a good idea. I went with the S50 from Sirius, looks pretty sweet. I, being a money whore, went with buying one off eBay. I got a brand new one, with car kit for $187.00 before shipping and before the $100 rebate for being a new Sirius customer... now I have to wait for it to get here.

I have a new car...

So if you bothered to read the comments on my last post, you'd already know that I have a new car... But since that is very unlikely I must repeat myself in exclaiming "I have a new car!".

Thank you and good night.
